Your role

Work location: Lonsdale, Adelaide
Reporting to: Flavour Technologist

The RD&A Flavour Technician is primarily responsible for activities supporting the RDA function and preparation of product samples. This role contributes by supporting the RDA team in delivering customer projects through supporting development activity, raw material evaluations, sample preparation and systems compliance within the group. Working hand in hand with their scientists and commercial teams to ensure timely responses on customer projects and samplings, which directly impacts business growth targets. In addition, this role will help maintain RDA facility excellence, pilot plant equipment, stock control, shipping logistics and compliance with expected GMP’s, housekeeping, health, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Taste team on projects.
  • Support the Raw Material Evaluation (RME) process.
  • Mixing recipes in accordance with the preparation methods provided.
  • Provide application support to R&D staff as necessary.
  • Responsible for the preparation of samples for evaluation, customer trials, product approval, market promotion and customer presentations.
  • Ensure retained samples are collected and stored appropriately.
  • Responsible for pilot plant material preparation and support during trials.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) scale-up trials.
  • Goods receiving and dispatching for RDA.
  • Maintain and record documentation, including upkeep of equipment, and general cleaning of work areas. Actively participates in quality improvement for the function.
  • Support and follow Good Laboratory Practice manual expectations.
  • Housekeeping of general sample work area, pilot plant and sample room.
  • Navigating SAP, Optiva and SFDC network systems.
  • Labelling/packing samples and other duties and project work as required.

About you

  • Open to fresh graduates with Bachelor’s degrees in Food Science, Food Technology or any other relevant technical field.
  • Bonus for those with work experience in a food & beverage manufacturing company with HACCP, GMP & ISO 22000 certified environment. 
  • Strong sense of smell and taste. Along with a commitment to fulfilling customer needs.
  • Able to work independently with minimum supervision and in a team environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, self-managed, able to handle multiple tasks with speed and accuracy, with attention to detail
  • Fluent communication and writing skills in English.
