The Hospital:

The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) provides secondary and tertiary care to children and young people across the northern and western suburbs; specialist pediatric healthcare to the children of Victoria, Tasmania, southern NSW and parts of South Australia; and is the designated state-wide provider of services including pediatric trauma, rehabilitation and forensic medicine. As a quaternary centre for complex cardiac surgery and organ transplantation, the RCH cares for the sickest children from around Australia.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 6000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

The Role

The RCH Medical Imaging Department (MID) is seeking Radiology trainees who demonstrate a strong interest in sub specialising in pediatric radiology. The Fellowship position is normally full time and of 12 months duration. The MID takes a keen interest in developing well trained pediatric radiologists within a supportive environment to experience all areas of pediatric imaging.

Essential Qualifications include:

  • Completion of radiology training (in the country of origin)
  • Completion of appropriate radiology examinations and/or assessment

Key Accountabilities include: 

  • Develop and consolidate expertise in all aspects of general pediatric imaging.
  • Assist with the provision of Specialist Pediatric Medical Imaging services provided by the Medical Imaging Department of The Royal Children’s Hospital, including participation in the Fellows’ on-call roster
  • Assist with promotion and advancement of knowledge, technique and standards in diagnostic Medical Imaging.
  • Participate in regular teaching to undergraduate medical students and post-graduate trainees in Pediatrics and Radiology.
  • Assist with the provision of a consultative specialist pediatric Medical Imaging service to referring doctors.
  • Medical Imaging services provided will be within the objectives and philosophies of The Royal Children’s Hospital, provided in conjunction with Medical specialists and trainee radiologist colleagues, and supervised by a Medical Specialist of The Royal Children’s Hospital at the direction of the Director of Medical Imaging.
