Your role

As a member of the cross-functional Applications Engineering team within the Energy Projects group, they will be critical to Tesla's mission of accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy by helping integrate renewable generation and battery storage into utility power systems. They will assist in the design, implementation, and testing of the controls necessary for large battery storage projects (10 MWh - 1 GWh), both islanded and connected to the bulk electrical power system.

What You’ll Do

  • Support SCADA Engineers directly to develop and deploy monitoring and control schemes for complex utility-scale battery projects.
  • Support the SCADA Engineering Team with the design, integration, deployment, and commissioning process for the entire SCADA scope, both on-site and remotely.
  • Support new Tesla Energy software features by writing specifications and test plans, assisting development and test efforts, managing deployment and documenting new capabilities.
  • Develop technical or process documentation required to support project evaluation and deployments.
  • Troubleshoot issues and implement fixes on operational sites.

About you

Here’s what they are looking for in this role:

  • Pursuing or a recent graduate BS/MS in a relevant Engineering discipline or related field of study or a recent graduate. 
  • Demonstrated application of analysis, design and testing to solve complex engineering problems
  • Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals – mechanical, electrical, and thermal – is expected
  • Familiarity with relevant communication protocols and computer interfaces: UNIX, JSON, MODBUS, DNP3, IEC 61850, IEC 60870 protection relay configuration, etc.
  • Familiarity with relevant programming platforms and languages: SEL RTAC, Wonderware, Golang, Python, etc.
  • Besides a rock-solid work ethic and a strong team-oriented personality, members of their team display creativity, passion, and a desire to break new ground in a constantly shifting technology landscape.
