Your Role

Tesla is looking to hire an exceptional Energy Market Analyst Intern. This is a great opportunity to join Tesla’s Business Operations team, providing critical support to their dynamic Energy team. In this fast-paced position, you will be supporting the energy storage business across both residential storages through Tesla’s Virtual Power Plant, as well as utility-scale projects. The opportunity will be great for a self-starter who can pick up new concepts quickly and learn new skills in a fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Ongoing performance monitoring and financial reporting for existing Virtual Power Plant (VPP) operations, analysing past system performance to identify risks and opportunities for improvements in Tesla’s VPPs.
  • Performing modelling and analysis for the energy retail business, understanding energy market risks and trends while supporting with pricing energy products.
  • Developing business cases and undertaking revenue modelling for new utility-scale and behind-the-meter projects, presenting the results both internally and to external parties.
  • Maintaining and updating Tesla’s in-house view of energy markets and revenue projections.
  • Working with the business development team to support the identification and analysis of new opportunities.

About You

Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will have excellent data analysis, modelling and problem-solving skills, an understanding of energy markets and renewable energy systems, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A degree in Engineering or equivalent, with experience in problem-solving and analytical thinking.
  • Ability to work full time and for a 6-month contract.
  • Proficiency in modelling and handling large datasets using Python/Matlab, advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and/or other tools such as SQL.
  • An understanding of the National Electricity Market and renewable energy technologies.
  • Experience modelling and developing business cases for renewable energy technologies like solar and batteries.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
