About the Role

Machine Learning Intern

Internship runs from November to late February. Max 400 hours with flexible dates.

LanzaTech is constantly performing R&D to improve our process competitiveness, expand possible feedstocks, and develop new products. Since LanzaTech has been operating for more than 19 years there is a huge wealth of knowledge available in our scientific knowledgebase. However, it's sometimes hard to find.

We are continuing to develop our existing large language model question answering system to:

• Improve the speed and quality of its answers
• Integrate new modalities such as genetic and chemical data
• Investigate adding bioinformatic and cheminformatic tools to the question answering system to expand the types of questions it can answer
• You'll be leading the technical investigation and implementation of new techniques guided by an experienced developer.

Position Requirements

• Must be currently studying, or have recently completed, a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or similar
• Must be available to work full-time over the summer
• Must be eligible to work in New Zealand
• In person or hybrid in our Parnell office preferred, but fully remote is possible

Preferred Knowledge/Skills

• Proficient working in Python
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A keen interest in applying machine learning to solve scientific research challenges

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

• Able to work on a computer for a full working day
