The Role

We’re on the hunt for a kick-ass marketing/PR/journalism/event student to hone their skills in event marketing as our wonderful intern. You'll get to work on some of the best ACT festivals, including Spilt Milk, The Commons Street Feast, Carl Cox & Eric Powell’s Mobile Disco, and Oktoberfest Parklands. If you love writing, have a creative flair, exceptional marketing knowledge, and know what’s up, then this might be for you.

Your part-time work experience role will be varied as you become immersed in many aspects of our calendar of events. From creating content for our websites, socials and newsletters to content scheduling, assisting with media queries, influencers and artist liaison logistics.

This is a ten-week unpaid internship that is for course credit. Times and dates are flexible based on your study timetable, but ideally, you'll be spending 1-2 days in the Kicks office in Sydney.

To be considered, you'll need to meet the following criteria:

  • Currently studying a relevant degree (marketing, communications, events, journalism)
  • Love all-things music, food, and culture
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience and an understanding of social media platforms
  • A professional and self-motivated attitude
  • Interest in a long-term career in the music and events industry

Experience in the following is preferred but not essential:

  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Content creation experience
  • Later/MailChimp
  • Gif creation

We’re a small team so you’ll be working directly with the event managers, marketing team, and directors while gaining invaluable experience in the music and events industries.

This is a ten-week unpaid internship. Times and dates are flexible based on your study timetable, but ideally, you'll be spending 1-2 days in the Kicks Sydney office. Due to the nature of our events, some hours are required to be completed on-site at the events which occur over weekends. If you're not prepared to gain experience on the ground at the events, then this internship may not be for you.

Please note you will need to bring your own laptop.
