About Jefferies Australia

Jefferies is a leading global, full-service investment banking and capital markets firm that provides advisory, sales and trading, research and wealth and asset management services. With more than 40 offices around the world, they offer insights and expertise to investors, companies and governments.

Your role

The Jefferies Australia Summer Internship provides students with an unparalleled experience within the investment banking industry. It affords interns the opportunity to work closely with the founding bankers and senior leadership on the origination and execution of both public market and private transactions. Interns will experience working in a team with global connectivity and be part of an exciting and growing platform in the Australian market.

Training & development

The program will be offered from December through to February, during which time interns will have 12 weeks of work experience to develop a diverse range of technical and analytical skills and apply these in real-world situations for Jefferies’ clients. The program is designed for students interested in pursuing a career in investment banking.

Interns will have unique exposure to a broad range of coverage areas across M&A, Equity Capital Markets and Debt Capital Markets, and have the ability to create a lasting network of peers, and junior and senior bankers, both locally and globally.

Benefits

With Jefferies' Summer Analyst Program, you'll experience benefits such as:

  • Enriching orientation and training program
  • Mentoring from senior professionals
  • Participate in educational and social events
  • Formal performance reviews

Career progression

They strongly encourage interns to build their professional network and gain experience across various groups. Interns receive formal performance reviews to maximize their experience and are considered for full-time offers based on their demonstrated performance and potential.

Work-life balance

Jefferies fosters a dynamic, team-oriented environment and offers a strong work-life balance with generous holiday and vacation policies. Employees benefit from wellness programs, an Employee Assistance Plan, gym discounts, and jFIT corporate wellness initiatives, including participation in corporate challenges. Wellness incentives further enhance employee well-being.

Company culture

They attribute their success to a distinctive culture that emphasizes talent, drive, vision, and values. This fosters a flat, entrepreneurial, and collaborative environment where employees act and think like owners. Coupled with long-term leadership and a client-focused approach, this culture enables Jefferies to deliver strategic insights and achieve client goals effectively.

About you

Candidates should have a strong academic record and although a background in finance, economics or accounting is a plus, they will hire interns who have studied across a variety of disciplines. Candidates who apply should ideally be completing the penultimate year of their Bachelor's or equivalent degree, with outstanding academic achievement and seeking a winter internship with a pipeline to 2026 full-time employment.

This is an exciting opportunity for STEM students or women studying a degree in finance to immerse themselves in the finance sector and learn about investment banking.
