Your role

Jefferies’ Equities Division is a significant provider of liquidity, execution, and underwriting expertise with over 750 Institutional Sales & Trading and Research professionals globally who focus on providing best-in-class trade execution, ideas and service to their clients. Graduates in the Research Division will acquire valuable experience in a designated team by working closely with seasoned professionals on assigned projects and tasks.

The Jefferies’ Australia team structure affords Graduates the opportunity to work closely with the senior leadership team. Graduates will experience working in a team with global connectivity and be part of an exciting and growing platform in the Australian market.

Responsibilities:

Graduates are encouraged to think creatively, offer their input, and add value to the team from day one. Please find below the key responsibilities for the role:

  • Set up and maintain financial models for companies under Jefferies coverage.
  • Work on industry analysis, research, and conduct financial analysis to support the research.
  • Collect and interpret company data to facilitate recommendations.
  • Financial modelling: input data into proprietary financial models to create charts, dashboards and supporting material.
  • Conduct primary research from industry sources.
  • Assist with client interactions and client requests.
  • Meet with company management teams to understand their equity story and articulate it to the sales desk and the clients.

About you

Successful Jefferies Graduates will be able to multitask and manage a variety of projects simultaneously. Candidates must demonstrate professionalism and client management skills together with strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills. The work is fast-paced, intense and intellectually stimulating. The ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines, be adaptable and work both independently and as part of a team are essential traits of a successful candidate. You should have a strong academic background and be graduating. Although a background in commerce or finance is preferred, we hire Graduates who have studied a variety of disciplines. Candidates must hold a valid work permit to work in Australia.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Ability to communicate effectively and express complex ideas succinctly – both written and spoken.
  • Ability to take initiative and meet deadlines under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Industry experience in specific fields is an asset.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Strong capability in analyzing data and producing graphs.
  • Proficiency in Bloomberg FactSet or other data mining software is an asset.
