Graduate Environmental Health Officer, Moranbah

Our Community Education and Compliance Department has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Graduate Environmental Health Officer based in Moranbah to join the team on a two-year fixed term contract, full time.
As a Graduate Environmental Health Officer, you will experience a diverse role working across all aspects of the environmental health functions including (but not limited to):
- Assisting the Lead Environmental Health Officer with the development and delivery of food safety, and hygiene education and awareness;
- Undertaking legislative compliance in the Isaac Region, in accordance with the Food Act 2006, Public Health Act 2005, Public Health (Infection Control for Personal Appearance Services) Act 2003, Environmental Protection Act 1994, Waste Reduction and Recycling Act 2011, and Isaac Regional Council Local Laws;
- Providing assistance with the delivery of the Isaac Region’s Licensing Program, by conducting both physical and computer-based business premises assessments;
- Supporting the preparation and presentation to develop and implement programs to improve environmental health services and standards in the Isaac Region;
- Supporting the operational delivery of the Isaac Region’s Vector Program.

The successful candidate will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health (or equivalent) accredited by Environmental Health Australia or qualifications and experience that are substantially equivalent and appropriate to undertake the role.
- Knowledge and understanding in applying relevant legislation to undertake the position specific accountabilities of a Graduate Environmental Health Officer;
- Demonstrated skills to plan and implement community programs, projects and training, including the ability to develop and maintain business and industry partnerships;
- Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to consistently achieve goals, work autonomously and prioritise work tasks to achieve program objectives;
- High-level written and interpersonal skills including advanced negotiation, liaison and mediation skills;
- Demonstrated research, planning, analytical and problem-solving skills transferrable to this position.
For this position we offer:
- Salary $69,036.89 - $75,218.97 per annum plus allowances;
- 5 weeks annual leave @ 17.5% loading;
- 12.5% super in accordance with Council Policy;
- RDO’s in accordance with Council policy;
- Based in Moranbah.
