About IKEA Australia

IKEA was founded in Sweden in 1943. IKEA's business idea is to offer well-designed, functional and affordable, high-quality home furnishing, produced with care for people and the environment. The IKEA Brand unites more than 200.000 co-workers and hundreds of companies with different owners all over the world. It’s one brand, but it reaches millions of hearts and homes. Their value chain is unique. It includes everything from product development, design, supply, manufacture and sales – and of course it begins and ends with their customers. The IKEA retail business is operated through a franchise system. Today, 12 different groups of companies market and sell the IKEA product range under franchise agreements with Inter IKEA Systems B.V.

Your role

The Product Recovery & Quality department is a vital link in the success of the business, by working to recover costs through repacking, building, and selling both damaged goods and customer returns. As the busy hub of every IKEA store, a fantastic opportunity awaits those seeking a deeper understanding of the commercial internal processes and their product range. Championing sustainability and product quality, this department will allow you to sink your teeth into some complex problem-solving.

As a Product Recovery & Quality Co-worker, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Sorting and recovering IKEA products to give them a second chance
  • Repacking IKEA products back into a saleable condition
  • Building and taking apart furniture where needed
  • Execute the Product Quality and compliance tasks in the store
  • Actively selling IKEA products through the As-Is shop floor

Training, development & rotations

IKEA Australia has its own system of learning and trainings designed for a specific job position. You will get introduction training as a new co-worker where you will learn about how the company operates, the safety and security rules, customer friendly principles and their environmental approach. You will also get a mentor – a colleague who answers all your questions, shows you your department and introduces you to your colleagues. You will pass more trainings according to your training plan then. Read more.
