The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled business administration professional to efficiently support specialist functions including our strategic risk management, fraud governance control and internal audit. 

The Corporate Governance Support Officer is also responsible for coordinating the administration and secretariat services to the Reef Authority’s Audit and Risk Management Committee and other governance bodies and committees administered by the section. 

This position works closely with the Manager Strategic Compliance and Projects, contributes to the daily business practices and principles of good governance, and assists with project support activities in the section. This includes providing backup support to our Board and Parliamentary and Ministerial functions, supporting Agile ways of working, and other committees administered by the section as required. 

The Duties

  1. Support and undertake professional committee and secretariat services to ensure these governance administration functions are timely and follow best practice committee processes, procedures, and protocols.
  2. Prepare and distribute meeting agendas, minutes, papers, reports, correspondence, actions, and briefs that are clear, succinct, accurate, grammatically correct, and timely.
  3. Provide administrative and project support for the section including procurement and contracts; reporting on risk, audit, financial milestones; and maintaining documentation in electronic records management systems.
  4. Build and maintain relationships with our committee members through coordinating agendas, meetings, and action items. Arrange travel, catering, venue hire, and work with external suppliers.
  5. Work in harmony with the Strategic Governance team and other Reef Authority staff, participate in Agile ways of working and flexible working more generally, and contribute to other section projects and functions.

As an APS employee you may be reassigned to a different set of duties at the same classification level at the discretion of the agency head (CEO), taking account of operational requirements in the agency.

Eligibility Requirements & Qualifications

Applicants must:

  1. be an Australian citizen at the time of applying for the position,
  2. be able to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance, failure to do so will result in termination of employment.

Essential requirements 

  • Demonstrated experience in public sector administration including committee and secretariat processes and protocols.

Desirable qualifications or equivalent experience 

  • Project and governance administration experience.
  • Qualifications in business and/or administration.
  • The ability to travel, sometimes for multiple nights at a time.
