The Gen Re Life team is interested in speaking with Actuarial Analysts in the Insurance and Reinsurance Industry who are looking for the next step in their career. We have two roles available in the data and analytics team.

Your Role

You will be a key member of the Gen Re Life Australia team, and responsible for a wide range of functions with a focus on actuarial experience investigations, data analytics and systems support. You will report to the Regional Chief Actuary and work closely with the wider Gen Re Life team.

You will have an analytical mindset with the ability to work independently but collaboratively in a small team of experienced actuaries and data scientists. If you are someone who thrives in a busy and supportive work environment and who enjoys learning new skills this role could be for you!

The Data and Analytics team is responsible for:

  • Enhancing data analytics capabilities.
  • Data analysis and reporting.
  • Pricing and research support.
  • Experience investigations and actuarial projection models development.
  • Communicating outcomes of any investigations or research.
  • Working with data systems, controls, and processes to enhance data quality & capability.

This is a great opportunity to be involved in a wide range of Australian and New Zealand life insurance issues from the perspective of a successful reinsurer.

Your Profile

  • We are looking for analysts with a range of experience – you may be relatively new to the life insurance industry, or you may already be two or three years into your career
  • You will be pursuing actuarial qualifications
  • You will have knowledge and understanding of the insurance and reinsurance industry.
  • You will have a high level of computer literacy including strong skills in MS Office, data manipulation and statistical or data manipulation language e.g. SQL, R or Python
  • You will have the ability to effectively present and communicate results.
  • You will be able to work independently but collaboratively in a small local team of experienced actuaries and data scientists.
  • You will have a university degree preferably in Actuarial Studies or with a strong statistical or mathematical component
