About the Role

Our primary teachers get to experience a variety of schools in their locations, providing opportunity to hone their skills as teacher without the hassles of school politics, parents and reporting. They will get to practice teaching many different subjects and year levels if they choose, providing opportunity to teach not only classroom subjects like English and Mathematics, but also specialist subjects like Physical Education, Visual or Performing Arts, Music, Languages and Science.

We understand that as a graduate teacher, Casual Relief Teaching is a stepping stone to greater career opportunities and we enjoy watching our teachers find full-time classrooms in our amazing schools. We don't create barriers when seeking a full-time classroom with any of our schools.

How To Apply and Succeed With Us!

Step 1: Apply

All applicants can apply for positions at any time of the year through our website.

Step 2: Onboarding

Once we have received your application, we will ask you to fill in your details on our system in readiness for an interview via Zoom.

Step 3: Interview

Our interviews are completed via Zoom unless requested otherwise. The interviews are about finding out who you are as an individual and how we can best cater to your needs as a teacher. We will ask questions like:

  • What do you enjoy doing outside of teaching?
  • What experience do you have in education?
  • What subjects do you like to teach?
  • What days would you like to teach?

Step 4: Providing Documents

After being successful in our interview process, you will be asked to provide your documents and further details to check off you are ready to teach. Once the online portal is completed, we will be able to offer you work as soon as possible to start your teaching journey!

Step 5: Start Teaching!

Many graduates want to find full-time positions. We suggest for building strong relationships with a school and to be asked back, you can do the following:

  • Arrived 30 minutes before your shift to allow yourself time to be inducted into the school and prepare yourself in the classroom.
  • Be welcoming and friendly to all teachers and students you meet especially on yard duties and in staff rooms. A smile will go a long way!
  • Leave your classroom tidier than you found it and don't worry you usually have 20 students to help you with this task.
  • Leave clear notes for the teacher you are replacing; they will be happy to know all that has been completed for the day and how the behaviour was.
