About our graduate program

We're looking for graduates in disciplines including forestry, agriculture, environmental science and natural resources who have completed an Undergraduate or Post Graduate Program in the last 18 months or who will be completing their studies this year.

During the two-year program, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Assist with planning the future of some of our 2 million hectares of native and plantation forests
  • Obtain nationally accredited qualifications in firefighting and protect our forest and regional communities from bushfires.
  • Contribute to tomorrow’s homes and the nation’s infrastructure through sustainable harvesting of renewable timber resource and gain an understanding of business management and financial reporting.
  • Understand the land management facets that underpin our forest management like pest and weed control, Aboriginal partnerships and tourism and show you care for our forests and their future.

What it involves

Our two-year Graduate Program will consist of on-the-job learning, mentoring, exposure to senior leaders and an active support network which will accelerate your career towards becoming one of our next operational leaders.

The rotations will provide exposure to a range of roles within either our Softwood Plantation Division or Hardwood Forest Division (native forest) to build your knowledge and give you a deep understanding of the technical aspects of forestry roles. Each graduate will experience diverse work programs and workplaces, supported throughout by a dedicated learning and development pathway.

Ideally, you will start as part of our seasonal firefighting crew from late November 2024 with nationally accredited training provided.

Graduate roles could be based at Bombala, Tumut, Batemans Bay, Bathurst, Coffs Harbour or Wauchope with opportunities also to travel to other locations on short-term assignments.

During our two-year Graduate Program, we will work with you to enhance your professional development and consider your future career opportunities. After the program, we will work proactively with you to identify suitable positions within Forestry Corporation.

The fine print

During the selection process, you will be required to participate in a range of assessment activities to help us evaluate your suitability for our Graduate Program.

At Forestry Corporation, the health, safety and wellbeing of our people, our contractors and our communities is the highest priority, which is why successful candidates will also be required to provide evidence of their COVID-19 vaccination status or medical exemption and satisfactorily complete a Drug and Alcohol screening, Medical Assessment, and fitness assessment for firefighting.
