You must be an Australian or New Zealand Citizen OR an Australian Permanent Resident, AND be in your final year of study of a university degree. 

Our Investments Graduate Program

The First Sentier Investors 2023 Graduate Program is an opportunity to learn the ropes of equities investment management. As part of a small, hands-on team, you will have to the opportunity to work across a broad range of tasks including stock analysis, modelling, options valuation, risk analysis, presentations and report writing. If you are keen to start your investment management career in a supportive and positive environment, then this role is a perfect ‘foot in the door’ for someone passionate about investing and financial markets.
 
The Investment Analyst Graduate will work alongside specialised Equity Income portfolio managers to strengthen, grow, and scale the investment capability. The role also contributes to ensuring that the investment team implement and continually improve responsible investing as a core part of the investment process.

The successful candidate will secure their place in the 2024 Graduate intake, with the opportunity to begin part-time employment in 2023. 

Required Capabilities

• Final year of University in a relevant field of study that demonstrates a strong understanding of accounting, finance and investment principles. Further studies related to the investment management industry will be supported.
• Must have a passionate interest in financial markets, macroeconomics and responsible investing and keen to contribute to all aspects of the investment process.
• Meticulous attention to detail is essential
• Enthusiastic, self-motivated attitude - An ability to take ownership of assigned responsibilities while looking for opportunities to improve the way tasks are undertaken.
• Highly analytical, commercial yet able to effectively communicate (written and oral) complex investment concepts to clients
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with colleagues at all levels of seniority across the business
• Computer literate with a high level of proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word

Key Responsibilities
 
In addition to developing your expertise in all aspects of the equity income investment process, the role will be responsible for:
 
Investment Analysis

• Prepare analysis and charts/presentations that will support the sharing of our investment insights with our clients/consultants.
• Keep abreast of broader market themes by attending regular investment team meetings, reading the financial press and attending conferences/seminars where appropriate.
• Oversee and maintain the accuracy of the content on research consultant databases.
• Contribute to business strategy reviews by preparing/reviewing strategy documents, analysis/commentary on competitor landscape, strategy capacity and fee structures.

Investment Communications

• Prepare commentary for use in monthly/quarterly client updates - includes market commentary, portfolio performance, portfolio positioning, and outlook.
• Produce draft thought pieces/client collateral that promote the investment capabilities of investment teams.
• Tailor requests for proposal (RFP), due diligence documents and other ad-hoc client requests within the deadlines required.

Responsible Investment

• Participate in work and meetings that cover ESG issues in investment team portfolios - Drawing on these insights, draft commentaries and reports that might inform clients/consultants/prospects of our ESG capabilities and processes.
• Provide ESG-related analytical support to the investment team and other stakeholders
