Your role

As a member of the Wholesale Risk Team, you will provide technical credit risk management advice and analysis to assist in decision-making and oversight of EnergyAustralia’s risk exposure. After learning the team's ways of working, you will take real ownership of many of the role's functions. Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Quantification of risks and opportunities in the wholesale energy markets by interrogating market data with a set of quantitative, statistical, and data science techniques.
  • Developing risk models in R and Python
  • Communicating analysis of model results via Tableau reporting to Trading and Finance stakeholders.
  • Provision of analytical, systems, process, and documentation supporting risk team and broader business units in managing risks, while also providing appropriate controls for segregation of duties.
  • Forward curve construction and valuation of derivatives for mark-to-market purposes

About you

This is an excellent opportunity to have direct exposure to a highly regarded trading team, additionally working with and learning from an experienced and extremely knowledgeable team lead.  

Qualifications: 

  • Tertiary Qualification in a Quantitative discipline (mathematics, physics, computer science, finance or equivalent)
  • Experience with quantitative and analytical skills with a commercial focus
  • Strong knowledge of statistical modelling techniques (Matlab, SAS, R, Python, C++, etc)
  • Experience with financial risk assessment tools (risk metrics, cash flow at risk, stress testing)
  • Knowledge of cloud-computing environments (favourable but not mandatory)
