In this permanent role, you will report to our on-site Environment Leader and support the environmental management processes at our Yallourn Power Station (Yallourn W) - a large, coal-fired power station in the Latrobe Valley, supplying up to 22% of Victoria’s and 8% of Australia’s electricity.

You will work with other environmental specialists and operational employees to assist in the monitoring, collection, reporting, analysing and interpretation of environmental data to achieve compliance with Environment Protection Licences and other related statutory requirements.

What will you be doing?

In this permanent role, you will report to our on-site Environment Leader and support the environmental management processes at our Yallourn Power Station (Yallourn W) - a large, coal-fired power station in the Latrobe Valley, supplying up to 22% of Victoria’s and 8% of Australia’s electricity.

You will work with other environmental specialists and operational employees to assist in the monitoring, collection, reporting, analysing and interpretation of environmental data to achieve compliance with Environment Protection Licences and other related statutory requirements.

Maintain detailed records of technical audits and environmentally impact assessments and assist in the preparation of reports to regulatory authorities
Contribute to immediate and effective responses to all environmental incidents and provide support to the coordination of environmental emergency exercises
Participate in the management of designated elements of the Environment Management System (EMS) to ensure ISO14001 certification
Assist with the facilitation, review and reporting of environmental audit programs, the risk registers and environmental action plans

What are we looking for?

To be successful in this role, you will have completed (or near completion of) a degree qualification in Environmental Science, Engineering or related discipline.  You will be motivated to apply your current learning to a practical environment and develop your expertise further within a team of environmental specialists.

  • Knowledge of environmental and/or chemical processes and environmental legislation including Environmental Protection, Water Management, Environmental Planning and Assessment and associated regulations.
  • An understanding of data collection including telemetry systems to accurately record and present data in appropriate formats and to approved standards
  • Ability to identify environmental problems and develop technically appropriate solutions through demonstrated incident investigation techniques
  • Initiative and capability to work independently as well as working well within a team environment
  • Have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

*Please note: Some after-hours work may be required in unique instances such as during overhauls/outages.
