Your role

Family Consultants work with families involved in child-related proceedings, giving particular attention to the protection and safety of children, family violence, and related issues, whilst working towards appropriate and safe parenting arrangements. Family Consultants undertake responsibilities associated with the provision of risk assessment, case management, mediation, counselling, and reporting as required under the amended Family Law Act 1975 and Family Court Act (1997).

About you

Here's what the Department of Justice WA is looking for in this role:

  • These positions require a relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers or an approved four-year degree in Psychology with eligibility for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
  • This position is identified under Section 6 of the Act as “Child Related Work”. Applicants must have a current Working with Children Check or be able to successfully apply for one to be eligible for an appointment to this position.
  • All employees are required to undergo employment screening, which includes a National Criminal History Check and other checks that may be relevant to the position requirements.
