Job Description

The Department of Health (DoH) is offering up to 23 pharmacy intern places in 2023 across various locations within Tasmania Public Hospitals, including Hobart, Launceston, Burnie & Latrobe.

Our career opportunities offer progression and ongoing training, alongside like-minded people striving for quality improvement in a rewarding environment. 

Our Interns rotate through all areas of pharmacy learning as they go, supported by preceptors and supervising staff. They are provided with regular education sessions and study leaves to attend ITP training days as required by their internship provider.

The Department:

The Pharmacy Department in each major public hospital forms part of the Statewide Hospital Pharmacy Unit. The Pharmacy Department provides clinical pharmacy services to numerous wards of the hospital (including ICU, paediatrics, rehabilitation, palliative care, oncology, mental health, general medical and surgical wards). It also provides services including the manufacturing of aseptic and non-aseptic products, chemotherapy preparation, clinical trials, outpatient dispensing, therapeutic drug monitoring and educational in-services.

The Pharmacy Department actively promotes improved medication safety and equity of access to pharmacy services 

Details of Appointment:

Multiple Fixed Term, Day Worker positions available, working up to 76 hours per fortnight.

Salary: $68,089 per annum + 10% superannuation + access to salary packaging

  • Applicants should note that, for six months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part-time vacancies.

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  • Eligible for provisional registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia.

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
