In this internship, you will assist our data science team in a wide variety of analytical and reporting tasks to support Cubane’s business operations. We will cover all aspects of Data Science Platform like Data Engineering, Machine Learning and Data analysis & communications.

Please note this is a casual position with a maximum of two days a week. We can accommodate flexible work hours to fit your university commitments.

As an Intern, Data Science, you will:

  • Assist in developing Cubane’s analytical and reporting tools through:
    • Data analysis
    • Coding including scripts in R and Python
    • Creating automated reporting products in Shiny or Flask
    • Writing and review of documents, including knowledge base articles and other training material
  • Conducting data analysis to support operations improvement initiatives, including updates to methodologies and guidance
  • Support the development of new applications

Skills we seek:

  • Proficiency in Python and R highly regarded
  • Experience in building programmable visualisations like Shiny and Flask highly regarded
  • Good understanding of Database schema and some understanding of SQL is a definite plus
  • Experience building statistical/machine learning models
  • Ability to communicate complex analysis

A bit about you:

  • Enthusiastic, curious, detail-oriented, and willing to learn
  • In your final or penultimate year of a Bachelors/Master’s degree preferably in a quantitative discipline such as Data Science, Mathematics or Statistics
  • Intelligent and academically accomplished – a distinction average or above is essential
  • Able to demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to interpret and translate complex information
  • Comfortable working autonomously and in a self-managed way, using initiative to draw on the expertise of those around you
