Software Development Internship null

This internship is with Metallum and is facilitated by the CSIRO’s Generation STEM Links program.

As a Software Development intern at Metallum you will use your technical skills and knowledge in computer programming to work on a project developing an automated quoting system for the business. This internship offers a unique experience to collaborate with the laser programming teams and sales teams to develop a bespoke program. Knowledge and proficiency in using Excel, Google Sheets, AutoCAD and SolidWorks is advantageous for the position. The chosen intern will be using their knowledge of VBA within Google Sheets and Excel creating macros and custom functions which is essential to the project. You may also be required to generate quotes and process customer orders in addition to the role.

Moreover, the chosen intern will work with the laser programming team as assistant laser programmer. Your role will involve using CAM software and SigmaNEST to program the laser. Your role will include working in collaboration with the sales team to generate new quotes for businesses. The understanding of the quoting system and procedures is necessary for the creation of this system. 

Work arrangements

• Start date: Mid-September
• Working arrangement: Part-time for 200 hours
• Remuneration: $25/hr plus super on a part-time temporary contract with Metallum
• Location: St Marys, NSW

Desired capabilities

• In their final year of a STEM degree or qualification ideally studying Software Development, Computer Science or IT.
• Knowledge and experience in writing formulas in Excel or logic-based programming is required
• Experience in using AutoCAD and SolidWorks is beneficial
• Experience with using sheet metal is advantageous
• Experience in Google App Scripts, Google Sheets and Power Query functions is advantageous
• Experience in using CAM Software and SigmaNEST is essential
• Previous experience in a customer service role is beneficial
• High level problem solving and communication skills.

Requirements

• Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
• Must be in your penultimate or final year of an undergraduate qualification.
