About the placement

This internship is with Brighann Ginning PTY LTD and is facilitated by the CSIRO’s Generation STEM Links program.

Brighann Ginning in Moree, NSW is equipped with the latest technology, a 4-Stand Lummis Saw Gin, which adopts best practice humidification. The gin is supported by sentinel lint cleaners, collider dryers and a humidifier, all of which are integrated with quality and moisture monitors to ensure the output maximises the yield and calibre of lint.

The Cotton Ginning Internship offers students an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the operation and maintenance of ginning machinery. During this internship, students will work closely with experienced technicians to learn about the mechanics and hydraulics involved in processing raw cotton, from feeding to lint separation and seed extraction.

Your role will include engaging in assessing the inputs and outputs of the ginning process, optimising machine performance, and ensuring quality control. In addition, you will apply your mechanical skills to analyse equipment efficiency, diagnose issues, and perform repairs. This internship provides a comprehensive understanding of the ginning industry, bridging theoretical knowledge with practical engineering applications.
