About the placement

This internship is with StevTech and is facilitated by the CSIRO’s Generation STEM Links program.

As an intern at StevTech you will receive training and become licensed as a CASA certified drone pilot. You will learn and develop the capability of collecting drone imagery in accordance with StevTech and industry standards. Additionally, you would be involved in the collection, preparation and processing of computer vision solutions to real world agricultural issues. Through this placement you will gain a detailed understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and the accurate collection of drone data.

Work arrangements

  • Start date: Flexible: Spring to Summer 2024. Ideally start training during mid-semester break with intent to continue full-time across Summer break.
  • Working arrangement: Full time during study breaks and summer. 
  • Remuneration: $25/h + super on a temporary contract.
  • Location: Dubbo with training options in Grenfell NSW.

Desired capabilities

  • In their penultimate to final year of a STEM degree or qualification.
  • Studying a degree relating to: Drone operations (Robotics), Computer Vision Solutions (Data Science), Geographical Information Systems.
  • A positive and energetic attitude.
  • High level problem solving and communication skills.
  • Agricultural knowledge or experience is advantageous. 

Requirements

  • Manual drivers license. 
  • Ability to work in cold/hot environments for extended periods of time.
  • Comfortable to work long days (to be supported with time in lieu).
  • Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Must be in your penultimate or final year of an undergraduate qualification.
