The full-time Analyst Program is a multi-year experiential journey designed to empower and support Analysts in connecting their personal passions and strengths to BlackRockโ€™s mission, principles and purpose. The program begins with an orientation to learn about our purpose, business and strategic priorities โ€“ all while gaining insights into the day-to-day life of an Analyst at BlackRock.

Following orientation, Analysts join their business area and stay connected with colleagues across the globe through ongoing training and professional development. This program offers Analysts the chance to have a lasting impact on the firm and contribute to our greater collective purpose to help more and more people experience financial well-being.

Throughout the program, Analysts will have an opportunity to do meaningful work with diverse colleagues across the globe, all with the support of a company thatโ€™s committed to their well-being and invested in their success.

We hire curious, lifelong learners and support their growth through virtual and in-person training, certificate programs, company-wide hackathons, and analyst training programs.

Additionally, we provide a breadth of benefits and programs to support your physical, financial and mental well-being. From virtual healthcare to money management support and free, confidential counselling, we continuously evaluate and update our benefits to make sure they meet our employeesโ€™ needs.

Once youโ€™ve submitted your online application, you will be asked to complete a virtual cover letter. Think of this as an opportunity to give us your elevator pitch โ€“ it is not an interview but will be considered along with your resume. This must be completed within 5 calendar days of submitting the written part of your application.

I have recently moved into a full-time role in a position I want which has made the work I'm doing extremely satisfying. Before that it was up and down, there were some business units that were really good an asking what I wanted to do and making work challenging and fun where others would just give you the dirty work.

Pros and cons of working at BlackRock Australia

Pros

  • The supportive culture and flat hierarchy. Also the ability to be entrusted with leading projects and be responsible for tasks at a junior level.

  • Very flexible hours... there is a certain level of trust involved with manager and managee. When work is light, less hours is more than fine, treated like adults.

  • BlackRock in Australia promotes a very accessible and friendly, flat hierarchy. We champion an inclusive and collaborative culture.

  • Lots of growth opportunities and exposure to different areas.

  • The office space is amazing - great harbour views! Location is also great, right next to the three main stations.

Cons

    • Due to the sheer size and scale of the business, completing a straightforward procedure can require levels of approvals and coordination across various parts of the business.

    • The size.

    • Graduate pay is slightly below average in Australia.

    • Performance feedback is ad hoc - a lot of the times you do have to take the initiative to ask for it.

    • More transparency in the business rotations the graduates will be in and the options there are for graduates to experience.
