Your role

As an engineering student, you would begin to learn your craft alongside and under the guidance of BG&E’s engineering team, assisting project teams with a variety of tasks including the development of documentation, reports, and engineering calculations.

You’ll likely have opportunities to:

• Work with other engineering disciplines and participate in interdisciplinary workshops. 
• Get involved with construction support including response to RFIs.
• Accompany engineers for site inspections.
• Learn how to support project teams with analysis, design, asset management, and reporting.
• Learn how to ensure that all work is undertaken in accordance with the appropriate legislation, corporate requirements, and systems.

About you

To succeed in this position, you'll have:

• Progressed at least halfway into your Civil Engineering Degree and with an excellent academic record, especially in structural units.
• Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of the MS Office suite of tools, and experience using AutoCAD or structural modelling tools are beneficial.
• A strong desire to learn and solve problems.
• High attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills.
• The ability to work in a full-time capacity with BG&E throughout much of December, January and February in alignment with university dates and their annual Christmas shutdown.
